Welborne Garden Village is set to feature 6,000 homes, each designed with accessible green spaces and sustainable energy solutions in mind. The development will also include nurseries, schools, shops, leisure facilities, and a technology park, making it a self-sufficient and vibrant community. This ambitious project is the vision of a local landowner and has been over 17 years in the making.
The project commenced on site in 2023 and is scheduled to take approximately 25 years to complete.
Scope of Work
To energise this ambitious Garden Village, Alconex has secured a substantial load of 35 MVA from the SSE Distribution Network Operator. As a fully accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), we have handled the entire design and installation for the 132kv/11kv connection, with the site subsequently adopted and maintained by the trusted Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO), MUA (Murphys).
Alconex’s selection as the ICP for Welborne Garden Village underscores their ability to handle large-scale, complex projects. Their responsibilities include the installation of electric, clean and wastewater systems for the entire development. Alconex’s involvement from the tender stage ensures quick and accurate quotes, comprehensive applications to the DNO, and precise load calculations.
Primary substation is expected to be built and commissioned in 2026.
